I feel like the series as a whole would be much better received if it wasn't in such a crowded market of young adult post-apocalyptic movies. Maybe it doesn't have the same star power but I don't think movies need it. I'll even go so far as to say it is Hunger Games level of quality. All in all, the Maze Runner series is much better than films like Divergent and The 5th Wave. I hope this pushes the imagination of this genre forward. Instead we have stunts on trains, amazing gun fights, and some crazy work with a crane. There's none of the usual running in the woods. The action set pieces are rather fantastic for this kind of young-adult post-apocalyptic movie. This makes the end more character driven than plot driven and I love it. The characters are also interesting in their own way as they often turn on surprising motivations. You have people die, buildings destroyed, folks infected, mazes to run, Jesus Christ references, and final no-cliffhanger finish. If you want to end a series, this is the end for it.
